Using Grandma's Recipe?

Many old, old recipes used single acting baking powder and will not work with today's double acting version, which produces carbon dioxide when exposed to liquid and when exposed to heat. Instead combine 2 tablespoons cream of tartar, 1 tablespoon baking soda and 1 tablespoon cornstarch. Use what you need and store the rest for next time.
